Setting The Scene

With me, there is no perfect setting for writing. When I’m ready to write—I write. But, what do I do to tip the odds in my favor for creative productivity? Easy, I set my scene. By that, I mean several things, but let’s state the obvious—blinds open and temperature comfortable. Let’s move on to my need to wear comfy clothing. I love jeans and a baggy sweatshirt, but find equal comfort in pajamas, and since I work from home, I find no shame in still wearing my PJs when lunchtime rolls around as long as I’ve been productive. The hair? Definitely pulled back, but with something I can easily remove as I run my fingers through it when I’m thinking, but need it up when I’m writing. You don’t have to tell me I’m odd. It’s a known fact. Now, as for noise, I turn cartoons on in the background. I tried for music but found I eventually sang along. The cats didn’t appreciate it too much. Finally, I fill a travel mug full of coffee to drink and am prepared to jump to Diet Coke when the pot is empty. Before this past week, when I began a diet, I always had snacks. It’s been different writing without chips and chocolate mini-donuts, but I do believe I shall survive.
