In conversation with one of Elise Gedicke’s characters

This is Ink & Intrigue—the blog where romance ignites, secrets simmer, and every love story hides a twist. I’m your blog host, Sheila Kell, romance author and lover of plot twists, slow burns, and morally questionable book boyfriends.

Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to an author whose stories deliver swoony heroes and fierce heroines —Elise Gedicke! If you love MC Romance, Dark Romance, Dark MC Romance, and Mountain Man Romance, you’re in for a treat.

Elise Gedicke is known for crafting unforgettable slow-burn love stories that leave you breathless. Her upcoming release, Deadly Aloha (Royal Bastards MC: Oahu, HI) (which she has as an early release in her store), is a romance that will have you rooting for the couple from page one.

In this spotlight, Elise Gedicke shares a character with us for a full interview from Deadly Aloha (Royal Bastards MC: Oahu, HI).

Whether you write love stories, devour them, or dream of doing both—you’re in the right place. Let’s get into it and give a warm welcome to Aloiki “Paniolo” Ka’ana’ana—Elise’s character! Warning: This interview is riddled with adult language. 💖

Let’s start with the basics, shall we?

  • What’s your full name, and do you like it?
    • My name is Aloiki “Paniolo” Ka’ana’ana. Of course, I like my name. What kind of stupid question in that. (Fucking, haole… )
  • Where are you from, and where do you live now?
    • I am kamaʻāina. Born and raised in Hawai’i.
  • How old are you (or how old do you feel)?
    • I’m 35. By the time I finish this fucking thing, I’ll probably feel 90. (But I’ll still be able to get it up.)
  • How would you describe yourself in three words?
    • I’m fucking awesome.
  • What’s your current relationship status?
    • I’m engaged to my wahine, Lu.

Congratulations. Okay, let’s change topics and discuss your backstory and motivation.

  • What’s the biggest event that shaped who you are?
    • Seriously? I don’t want to talk about this shit. Fine. If you must know, my mom was killed when I was 17, and my dad left her funeral. I never saw him again. Happy?

Not for your history, but for the rest of this interview—yes. Let’s continue.

  • Do you have any regrets?
    • I don’t have regrets…but if I had to choose one thing that I would change, it would be allowing my Lu to walk out my fucking front door and not stopping her 5 years ago.
  • What do you want more than anything right now?
    • To go fuck Lu
  • What’s standing in your way?
    • This fucking interview. Are we done yet?
[Chuckling] Not quite. I’d like to delve into family and relationships more.

  • Who are you closest to?
    • My best friend and ex-brother-in-law, Tangaloa.
  • Do you have any siblings? What’s your relationship like?
    • One sister, one niece. Love one, have to love the other. You can decide which is which.

I wouldn’t begin to try. Onward.

  • Who do you trust the most?
    • Lu
  • Have you ever been in love?
    • Are you seriously asking me this? I’m MARRYING Lu. Of course, I’m in love with her. Fucking ridiculous questions.

I was just checking, okay, lol. Let’s continue.

  • What does “home” mean to you?
    • Home is blood. I am Hawai’i, Hawai’i is me. I will live, breathe, and die for my paradise.

Let’s talk more about your strengths, flaws, and personality.

  • What’s something you’re really good at?
    • Fucking.

Not what I meant, but okay.

  • What’s a weakness you try to hide?
    • If I had a weakness, I certainly wouldn’t tell you.

Fair enough. Let’s continue.

  • How do you react under pressure?
    • I usually get hard.
  • Are you more of a leader or a follower?
    • Leader. Only person I’ll follow is Lu, and that’s if she’s leading me to the bedroom on her hands and knees.
  • What’s one thing people often misunderstand about you?
    • My cock is 8.5”, not 8”. It’s a common misconception after a misprint in my bio.

Okay, that’s enough of that line of questioning. Let’s chat about your preferences and quirks.

  • Morning person or night owl?
    • I can get it up anytime, morning or night.
  • Coffee, tea, or something stronger?
    • Beer
  • Favorite way to spend a day off?
    • Fucking Lu
[Shaking head] I should’ve guessed that one. Next—

  • Do you have any habits, tics, or superstitions?
    • Don’t take anything from my island. It’s bad luck—mostly because I’ll kill you for it.
  • What’s your guilty pleasure?
    • Turning my enemies into living chum.

Okay. I think we’ve hit that enough. Let’s try conflict and change.

  • What’s the hardest decision you’ve had to make?
    • Letting Lu go
  • How have you changed since the beginning of your story?
    • Wow, that’s deep. Fine. I used to share Lu with other men. I liked choosing who got to touch her. Now, only I touch her, and I’ll kill anyone else who tries.
  • What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself?
    • Apparently, I actually do want kids. Who knew.
  • Who has challenged you the most?
    • Lu. Crazy wahine drives me nuts…But I fucking love it.
  • What scares you?
    • Losing Lu. It’s not happening. Don’t even try it.

You’ve got nothing to worry about there. Let’s top this interview off with just some fun questions.

  • If your life were a movie, who would play you?
    • Jason Momoa
  • What’s your go-to karaoke song?
    • I fucking hate karaoke.
  • What’s something people would never guess about you?
    • That I fucking hate karaoke.
  • If you could trade lives with another character in your book for a day, who would it be?
    • Why the fuck would I want to be anyone other than me??
  • What’s your personal motto?
    • How would you rather die? Death by a 1000 hooks or being put through a wood chipper piece by piece?

Okay. That was interesting. Thanks for being here today and answering my questions.
