Today, I’m thrilled to discuss romance tropes I’ve used so far in my career. Romance readers love their tropes—and with good reason. A trope isn’t just a storytelling device; it’s a promise. When you pick up a book with “enemies to lovers” or “forced proximity” in the blurb, you know you’re in for the delicious tension, banter, and heart-melting payoff that comes with it.

So why do we devour tropes over and over? Because the how is always different. Sure, we know the rivals will eventually fall in love. We know the fake marriage will turn real. But watching two unique characters navigate those setups keeps it fresh every single time.

Tropes I’ve used so far:

• Bodyguard/Protector – All of them
• Forced Proximity – All of them
• Second Chance Romance – His Heart, His Fantasy
• Friend’s to Lovers– His Destiny, Midnight Escape, Evening Shadows
• Best Friend’s Sister – His Return, Bayou Sunset
• Adversaries– Chasing Shadows at Dusk
• On the Run – His Choice
• Alpha Male – His Desire

Tropes give us comfort, but they also deliver thrills, surprises, and the kind of emotional payoff that keeps us flipping pages late into the night. At the end of the day, tropes remind us of one truth: no matter how perilous the journey, love always wins.
