This is Ink & Intrigue—the blog where romance ignites, secrets simmer, and every love story hides a twist. I’m your blog host, Sheila Kell, romance author and lover of plot twists, slow burns, and morally questionable book boyfriends.
If you’ve read my books, you’ve probably noticed something: my heroines don’t wilt. They don’t wait. And they definitely don’t step aside while danger rumbles toward them like a freight train.
They run toward it.
Not because they’re fearless—fearless characters are flat. My heroines feel everything. Fear. Anger. Heartache. Hope. But they step into the fire anyway.
And that’s why I write them.
I grew up drawn to women in fiction who didn’t apologize for taking up space. Women who questioned orders. Who refused to be rescued unless they were unconscious or it was absolutely unavoidable. Women who fought with their minds, their hearts, and sometimes their fists.
Real strength isn’t about being bulletproof. It’s about breaking and still choosing to rise. That’s what I try to capture in every heroine I write.
Whether she’s an investigative reporter digging into a story no one else will touch…or a PI who refuses to let her past define her…or a woman with a target on her back who still looks danger dead in the eye—my heroines fight for themselves.
But here’s the secret: strength doesn’t mean she doesn’t need anyone. It means she gets to choose who stands beside her.
And the right hero? He doesn’t tame her. He doesn’t overshadow her. He watches her walk straight into the storm and thinks, That’s the woman I’d burn down the world for.
I write strong heroines because they deserve stories that match their fire. They deserve love worthy of their courage. And they deserve the kind of endings where survival isn’t enough—they get joy, too.
Danger may chase them. Villains may try to break them. But in my books? They never go down without a fight. And they never rise alone.
Thanks for joining me on Ink & Intrigue, where romance and suspense go hand in hand.
