One of the questions I’m asked most often is whether I enjoy attending book signings.

The answer is always the same. Absolutely.

It’s easy to think of a book as the final destination. Months of outlining, writing, editing, proofreading, and revising eventually become a novel that finds its way onto a bookshelf or an e-reader.

But for me, that’s only part of the journey.

The best part happens when I finally get to meet the people who have welcomed my stories into their lives.

Writing is, by its very nature, a solitary job. Most days, it’s just me, my computer, and a cast of fictional characters who are usually demanding my full attention. I spend countless hours creating worlds, building relationships, and putting my heroes and heroines through more trouble than they probably think they deserve.

Then a book signing comes along, and suddenly those stories become real in a completely different way.

I get to meet the readers who laughed at the same scenes that made me smile while writing them. I hear about favorite heroes, unforgettable moments, and the books that kept someone reading long past bedtime. Sometimes readers tell me they’ve stayed up until two in the morning because they just had to know what happened next.

I promise…I never feel guilty about that.

One of my favorite things about book events is hearing how differently readers experience the same story. One person falls in love with the hero. Another can’t stop talking about the heroine. Someone else remembers a secondary character or a line of dialogue I almost changed during edits.

There’s something incredibly rewarding about realizing a story continues to live long after I’ve typed “The End.”

Book signings also remind me that the romance community is exactly that—a community.

Readers meet other readers.

Authors reconnect with friends they’ve made over the years.

New friendships begin over conversations about favorite books, unforgettable characters, and the ever-growing stack of novels we all swear we’ll finish someday.

It’s a wonderful reminder that stories have a way of bringing people together.

Of course, I also love signing books.

Not because my signature is anything special, but because every signed book represents a moment we shared. Maybe we talked about your favorite hero. Maybe we laughed over a character’s stubbornness. Maybe we snapped a photo together or debated which book boyfriend reigns supreme.

Those little moments are what I remember long after the event is over.

Every signing reminds me why I started writing in the first place. Not simply to tell stories. But to connect with people through them.
